Late Mrs Mustapha

Late Mrs. Mustapha was born on September 22, 1935, in Kalmunai kudy, to an influential parents  Late Gate Mudaliyar Muhammad Samsudeen Kariapper and Mrs. Kadijah.

Mrs. Ummu Zahida comes from a prominent, wealthy, and well-educated family in the eastern province. Mrs Zahida Mustapha completed her elementary education in Kalmunai before enrolling in St Bridget’s College Colombo.

Mrs  Zahida Mustapha was the eldest daughter of Gate Mudliyar M.S Karriaper, the Member of Parliament for Pottuvil Pattu at the time, a well-known and knowledgeable leader from Kalmunaikudy. In 1952, she married Mr. M M Mustapha, a political tycoon and former minister for the Nintavur Potuvil electorate, and they had nine children.
